My major in the world

Image
My major, although it has technical aspects, is totally artistic. I firmly believe that art not only delivers satisfaction, but also history, so i believe that the greatest benefit to the world is the way art teaches history in a special and enigmatic way. In a world that is increasingly digital, the art, designers and its representatives are needed to continue not only to grow as intellectuals of technology, but also to grow culturally. Art is culture. At the moment, my process in being part of the designers is still slow, i'm full of stress and i have thought of giving up many times, but the thought that in some future i can teach through my designs something of what is currently lived, fills me with motivation.

I learned to sew!!!

Image
This semester i had about six subjects, and it was a bit difficult. But no doubt my favorite was the Textile Treatments, i really like it because i'm learning and progressing in my sewing skills, i had never learned to sew or have knowledge of textiles, even when i've always wanted to design my own clothes, but i trust that by striving in this course i can do it. As a future stage designer, this subject is very practical and i feel that it serves me a lot, because in case the wardrobe managers are not available and the wardrobe has some fault, i will be able to order and maintain the workflow. And if i'm good enough,  could even take care of wardrobe areas myself. The content that has most interested me so far is that of sewing, because as i said before, i didn't know how to do it, and  now knowing how to sew i have the basis to begin to delve into the intervention of textiles. (Works of my first encounter with the needle, hahahaha)

An expert/person in your field that you admire

Image
Not exactly a person, but i really like and admire the theater company La Llave Maestra, especially, Edurne Rankin y Alvaro Morales, who are part of this company. La Llave Maestra is a Spanish-Chilean Visual and Object Theater company founded in 2010, that was developed a surprising, surrealist and suggestive language around materiality, objects and their scenic relationship with the body and gesture. Me, like as a stage designer in progress, i admire this theater company and its designers for the way they manage to make visual theater so interesting and engaging for the audience that sees them.  One of his works that i liked the most, and i was excited by his costume and lighting design, was Pareidolia, this work made me question some terms of theatre design that are usually more rigid in limits, and even Alvaro and Edurne motivated me (thought a interview for course) to be more playful with my ways of seeing and understanding theatre in order to find really desired results.

A photograph and its story

Image
I like photographs, whenever there is a opportunity to take a pose for the camera, although it may not always come out well. Mostly i take photos with my friends, so, maybe, a thousand photos that we took only one or two come out somewhat decent, the other are just funny photos, but they certainly hide many feelings and stories. The photographs means for me to take moments and keep them as something very precious and that whenever i see it i can relive the feelings of that moment. We took this selfie with my best friend in the year 2019. It was a saturday, i was still in 4to medio, and i went to Preuniveritario in Melipilla on fridays and saturdays, but as i lived far away i was going to stay from friday ti sunday at my best friend's house. Since something in context, i remember that saturday after leaving my math class at Cepech, Ina (my bestie) went to pick me up at the preu and we went to eat at the mall. We ate a promotion of Pedro, Juan y Diego, obviously with a lar...

My favourite piece of technology

Image
I was born in the era where technology was just being present in the lives of the poor, at my young age i knew nothing more than aerial television, and i was not a big fan of it, even to this day. But around the age of 8-9,i discovered about the wonders of the internet, and from then on, technology became an important part of my life.  The internet is, in my opinion, one of the best technological advances, ‘cause it’s a worldwide computer network that allows you to access and transmit various data, you just have to search and find what makes you curious or just see something that removes your boredom according to you tastes I like many foreign things that i cannot access in traditional ways, like music on the radio, animations on tv, culture shock makes me unable to access my tastes without the help of the internet, that’s why i spend most of the day surfing on it, watching music's videos of my favourites idols, reading manga/manhwa or novels, watching's oriental series, dis...

Why did i decide to study Theatre Design?

Image
Hi! Honestly, never expect to end up studying this major. When i was a young child i enjoyed many things and so i used to think of many jobs i would like to do. At the time, i thought of studying journalism, pedagogy, criminology. But a i grew older i discarded those majors for my new tastes. In my last year of high school, i had planned to study law, and i had that thought until days after i did my PSU. But one thing led to the other, and as i was applying on DEMRE's website, i thought about theatre design, i had researched a little bit about this career, and i really loved everything it delivered, i found it very completely and it had many aspect that i would like to exercise, like the design of costumes, scenery and make up. Then, i applied for that major as principal and fortunately, i stayed. Now i'm in my second year, and i really love it what i chose. I could say i don't regret it. Just, i discovered that the major is much more varied than i thought. My friends are...

Hi, I'm Fernanda Piña, but i would be grateful if you would call me for Octan or Felix. I was born on June 3, 2002, according to my mom it was a very rainy day, even most of the time i spend my bdays with rain. I grew up to 14 years old in the port of San Antonio, but then i moved to San Pedro, a small rural commune on the outskirts of Melipilla, also not that far from my old childhood commune. I live with my dad (O), my mom (R), my younger bro (B), and my three cats (Karma, Haru and Dori). I have an older sis (C), but she became independent very young. During my growing up stages, i was in four different schools, in high school i had a great contrast, 'cause i went from a prestigious private school to a rural municipal high school, even so i could keep my grades and share happily with my classmates. Now i study theatre design at the Universidad de Chile, i like the career i chose. Since i was little i became interested in art, drawing, painting, fictional and more realistic ...
